7 Money Rules for Life: How to Take Control of Your Financial Future, by Mary Hunt. In this "how to" book we hear about Mary's struggle with debt and how she managed to pull herself out from under debt! Its amazing to hear her tell of where she was to where she is now! These are things that most of us should know, but few of us actually remember to use to keep out of debt! The 7 laws are: 1. Spend less than you earn. 2. Save for the future. 3. Give some away. 4. Anticipate your irregular expenses. 5. Tell your money where to go. 6. Manage your credit. 7. Borrow only what you know you can repay. While these seem like such simple things to do, its amazing how so many people just don't know how to follow this nor care to! Debt is such a big issue in today's world, that seems almost impossible to get out from underneath. But Mary does such a great job showing you how you can do it, and is such an encouragement. I handn't expected much from this book as really, who wants to read a book about money? lol. But this is definately a book that people need to read! i had most of these rules down already and have now added the rest! It is such an encouragement to our family and we are excited for the day that we are debt free!

But could it be that God has other plans for who she's to marry? Could she help Roman from the past he's running from?

I love Suzanne Woods Fisher books! She is by far one of my favorite authors! This book is full of joy, suspense, sadness. Its just an amazing book, that I'll read over and over again! Most books, once I read them, get donated to our church library, but Suzanne Woods Fisher's book always find a special place on my own bookshelf. It is just that great of a book! I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out!

With barely enough time to grieve their father remarried. It was not into a loving home and Robert and his two little sister found themselves loaded into the back of their fathers cart and sold to a plantation. they were sold into slavery by their own father. Slavery was supposed to be abolished, but when there is refusal to educate a people, how are they supposed to know its illegal? Further more the abuse and facing death which was ignored by authorities was enough to keep them in bondage. We follow his life from growing up on a plantation and all the torture and horrible things that go with that, to finally escaping and finding a job, going to school and becoming a preacher!

This is an amazing story! Its hard to believe that some one could have gone through all this! I have to warn though that as amazing of a book this is, there are also portions of it that are horrific and very hard to read. Its hard to believe that people could be this cruel and this horrible to another person just because of the colour of their skin! I was glued to this book and the story of Robert Sadler. It was so encouraging to read of all he did in ministry and how God used him in such powerful ways! His ability to trust God after all the years of being a slave that he endured is nothing less than a miracle! I had never heard of Robert Sadler before I read this book, and now I think its a book that everyone should read. Its a story that must be shared!

The two families are forced into a legal war to find the rightful owner of the house. In the meantime Libby finds herself drawn to this family and the reasons for their sudden departure from Romania. Compassion fills her and she takes it on herself to not only bring food to the family, but to defend them from the obscene behavior of some in the community. She finds herself falling for the man who stole her house!

This was an awesome book! I loved it! its a great lesson on compassion and looking past the faults of others! The story kept you wanting more from beginning to end! and had so many surprising twists and turns! Definitely a must read!!

After the death of her father, her mother remarries a less than quality man! When he learns of Margaret's coming inheritance, he insists on his nephew to come and try and court her so that she will marry him and give him a chance at the money! When Margaret learns of his plan of a less than honorable way of trying to force her into marriage, she flee's in fear of what he'll do to her. She finds herself working as a maid at the home of a suitor she once rejected. She tries her best to conceal her identity and prays that no one will recognize her till she can make it to her birthday and her inheritance and have the ability to defend herself.

I initially wasn't looking forward to reading this book, just because the story just sounded like a story that's been done a million times before. But I'm glad to say I was so pleasantly surprised! It ended up being an excellent book and one that I enjoyed from beginning to end! It showed the struggle of some one who lived a privileged life and the fall into working life, and it did it well! I will be donating this book to our church library so that many more can enjoy it!

There they again encounter the bandits that the area is known for, only this time it results in the death of one family member and the kidnapping of another! Which is a sturggle with an Amish man when you don't believe in any form of violence, how do you protect your family? Not only that, but when Miriam realizes that she's fallen in love with Domingo, she must choose between her family and the man she loves!

This book was fantastic! I love Amish series books and this one was no disappointment! I remember reading the first book in this series and this is an excellent addition to that first novel. We learn more about the characters we already fell in love with in the first novel. It was suspenseful and kept you glued to the book till the end! This book will definitely find a treasured spot on my book shelf!! A must read!

Real Marriage, the truth about sex, friendship, and life together, by Mark and Grace Driscoll. In this book we hear the story of how Mark and Grace met and came to be married. We also learn of their struggles of unsolved issues prior to their marriage. From their experience and understanding of scripture, we hear what they believe a married couple should look like. From being best friends, to answering questions about sex, they pretty much cover it all!
I was pretty excited to read this book when I heard that Mark and Grace Driscoll were releasing a book about marriage. Mark Driscoll has a very to the point and blunt way of speaking and writing. I appreciate that in a speaker/author as you know where they stand and there's no guessing! I particularly liked the chapter titled "friends with benefits" I felt that was an important topic he brought up. I was also impressed to find a Christian author willing to tackle the subject of sex in marriage and what is permissible. It is a subject that seems to be so taboo to talk about still in the churches that its refreshing to find some one who's not embarrassed or too intimidated to broach the subject. There was a fair amount of this book where I did agree with Mark and Grace, but there was also a fair amount of the book where I do disagree. I feel they took some liberties of equating their personal opinion to scripture and being the ultimate truth, when it was indeed only their opinion. While also really appreciate bluntness and boldness I also think there is a balance of speaking (writing) that way with class, which I think at some points they failed to do. So while I did enjoy portions of this book, my recommendation for it is that I would only recommend it to people who are firmly rooted in their faiths and beliefs, and as with everything book you read or speaker you hear, you compare what they say to the word of God. You throw out the bad and keep the good! So that's what I feel I've done with this book, picked out the good stuff, which is really great, and then toss out that which is inaccurate! If you have the ability to do so without being swayed by personal opinion, but the ability to stick to scripture and develop your own opinion, then I feel this book would be worth reading for you. But again, not for those who are easily swayed.

I loved this book, I can't get enough recommending it to people! In fact I'll be offering these books to our church library as a resource to use for the families! It is a book that has been long due for our men in the church and needs to be read! It is one that I'll push when ever I can! Very well done!!!

When this book came I first gave it to my husband to read as I thought it would be more beneficial for him to read it than it would for me. Besides I had to read Resolution for Women lol. He really liked this book and everything they said. I was happy to have a chance to read this book after and find how great it is at encouraging men to take their role in the family and be purposeful about where they're leading them. My husband and I both really enjoyed this book and how it pushes men into their calling. It seems to cover all aspects of their lives, from dealing with the past, present and future! I think this is a book series that will have a changing effect on the church if the people will read it! Very well done!!!

The Resolution for Women, by Priscilla Shirer. This book is a part of the Courageous movie, put out by sherwood films. It looks at the way women are and how they're already making resolutions anyway, so why not be purposeful in what you're doing and changing your world around you, by doing God's calling on your life! She focuses on many different area's an encourages woman to be who they are called to be to their full potential.
This book is a great encouragement to woman! I loved this book and everything it said! I did feel that in some parts it was a little long winded, but it did do a great job getting its point across, so that was easily forgivable. I haven't had the opportunity yet to watch the Courageous film, but after reading this book and the other two that go with it I am really looking forward to watching it! I highly recommend this book for all woman in a relationship as well as encouraging the women to get their spouses to read the resolution for men!

I gave this Bible to my 5 year old when it arrived in the mail and she adores it! its a level she understands and can follow. She loves the pictures and everything that this Bible has to offer! We have enjoyed sitting with her and reading this too her. She also loves independent time with this Bible and being able to read a bit on her own and looking at the pictures! I highly recommend this Bible for kids! its well done and I love the way they tell the stories as well as the focus they put on each story!

Elizabeth is an autistic girl who finds herself failed by the system. with the tests they use to determine intelligence and ability they diagnose Elizabeth as mental retarded with a very low IQ. Elizabeth's mother, knowing that she was in there somewhere and understood. Wouldn't accept those results and pushed Elizabeth. Once retesting after finding a way that Elizabeth can use her voice, they discover that Elizabeth is actually genius level! Elizabeth discovers her voice through poetry that reveals what her life is like to us. We follow Elizabeth and her mother through this journey and the ups and downs!
This book was unbelievably great! I hadn't expected much from it, but was so surprised. I really loved this book! It opens your eyes to the world of autism and the lack of any work or research being done in the area. And what the potential an individual has when given the opportunities and the people in their lives who are for them not against them! I loved this book and have referred to this book over and over again. I've been recommending this book to tons of people, especially those I know who have a child with autism. What a huge encouragement to others! Well done!

A lasting impression, by Tamera Alexander. Claire took over her mother's position in the family business after she fell ill. In an effort to help her mom feel better, but despite all that Claire did her mother didn't make it. So Claire finds herself now stuck working for her father at what she hates. Making forgeries of other artists works that her father than sells as originals. But then an unhappy customer returns to the store after purchasing some prints and Claire finds her father near death on the floor. He instructs her to leave and go to another town, that he would join her shortly. But Claire discovers that her father never made it that day and ended up dying. Claire, no longer wanting the life she used to have sets out on her own and gets a position as a personal liaison to a wealthy woman who has a taste for art. Which Claire is passionate about making a name for herself in it. If only she can hid her past from everyone....
Well, I did enjoy this book to an extent. The story line is really good, and it is very well written. The part that I thought was rough was that it was just too long. The author dwelled too much on some parts of the story and it made the story seem to drag on. I felt it would have been an excellent story had the author just made it a little more fast paced. So while I like the story, it was very hard to read and pay attention.

Until "uncle" Jason announces to the crew that they are out of money and he is closing the show down. Now Cassie who's never done anything but live and work with the carnival finds herself searching for a new life. Before her father died he often talked about his dream land and how one day he would go back there. Cassie decides to look for her father's field and restart her life.
I didn't really expect much from this book. The story line just seemed weird, a sharp shooter in the old days traveling with a wild west show. But I was pleasantly surprised at how good this book was! I found myself glued to the book and anticipating what would happen next. I really look forward to reading the other books in this series. The only disappointing thing that I found about the book was the ending. But that was only because it stopped so suddenly and I wanted to know more of what happened! I really recommend reading this book, it was a treasure to read!

The Names of God Bible, general editor Ann Spangler. This Bible has many advantages to it! It lists the different hebrew names of God and where they are found in the Bible. It also gives you short devotionals that teach the meaning of the hebrew word used in the passages and gives you an idea of how it is applied and what it means for that passage. Also throughout the Bible they do use the hebrew word for God rather than just saying God (or spirit, etc..what ever the hebrew is for that word). There's a reading plan in the back of the Bible to get you through the entire Bible in one year. A name index, table of the names of God, and topical prayer Guide for the names of God.
I can not say enough good things about this Bible, I loved it the moment I started reading it! I am a huge believer that every Christian out there should learn the Hebrew names of God, as it opens up so much more of who God is! My only wish is that it would have contained more on the names of God while it covers a ton of the names, there are so much more! Its layout is super easy to use, flows wonderfully! I love the breaks of the devotionals in the passages and the highlights of the names of God. This is a treasured Bible that will stay by my bedside to be read day after day! I couldn't have asked for a better Bible to be reading. This definitely is a must have Bible!

He'd make a good husband, but it seems like such a boring life. That is until she finds out about this secret that he's been hiding! Excitement hits them full force and opens Rose's eyes up to a treasure she's found in Luke.
The Perfect Match, By Kathleen Fuller. In this section we meet Naomi, an awesome cook with a steady job doing what she loves! She also seems to have a knack when it comes to finding matches. That is for everyone else but herself! Except when a new guy comes to town she finds herself falling for him, but struggling not to, as she doesn't want a broken heart again!
A perfect plan, by Beth wiseman. Priscilla has been planning on marrying Chester, but it would seem as though everything is standing in their way to stop it! Her house plans fail, her sister ruins her wedding dress and her attendant gets a bad case of poison ivy. Which causes Chester and Priscilla to question if this is even God's plan for them or if they should call the wedding off.
These books were fantastic! I love a good Amish novel and in this one you get three great stories! I highly recommend adding this book to your collection!!

Healing hearts, by Beth Wiseman. In this novella we find three stories of Amish families and their struggles, their faith and their ability to overcome. The first of the three stories we find Levina Lapp who's husband has had to leave, but she didn't expect him to be gone as long as he was. Now that he's back Levina has to rediscover who her husband is, and draw close to him once again. The second of the stories we meet Leah, she doesn't seem destined to ever be married as she doesn't fit in with the status quo of what a good Amish wife looks like, yet it would seem that God does indeed have some one for everyone! Finally the third of the three stories is about Lydia, who found her heart broken years ago, but manages to move on and marries Elam. But tragity strikes and Lydia finds Elam taken away from her, but the one who broke her heart years ago seems to be looking for a second chance.
I love Beth Wiseman's Amish novels. They never disappoint, she is one of the few extremely talented writers in Amish fiction! It was a treat to receive and read this book! It'll be a book that I'll be passing on to friends and will be enjoyed by many. Another excellent book by Beth Wiseman!

Close enough to hear God breathe, by Greg Paul. In this book Greg Paul takes us through scripture and personal experience to teach us how we draw closer to God. We all long to be closer to God, to clearly her His voice, to be caught up in His embrace. But some how it seems so distant, that we won't be able to ever get to that place to be close enough to hear Him breathe. But in this book you hear God speak through Greg Paul. He takes you to places that make you think, make you question why you aren't closer than you are. The door is open to all of us to have that relationship with God. That mental image of just being able to curl up on my Father's lap and lean against Him and just listen to Him breathe is such an emotional picture. A place that every person longs to be with their savior. I loved this book, I love his insights, especially in the section about God creating man and woman in His image and all that went with that chapter. I loved this book so much that when it was my turn to teach at our home group through our church that I shared this book. Its one of those books that you'll treasure forever and flip through often. Its very well done and a must have for all personal libraries!

Stuck sampler, is a sample of a dvd based bible/devotional study for woman. I read through the portion of the study that I received in the sample and was so impressed! I wish there was more to it! This study will bring you closer to God, will teach you the truths about who you are and goes after those things that hold us back from a deeper relationship with God. At this time I am looking at buying the actual devotional and everything that comes with it in hopes of using it for a woman's bible study at our church. This is a resource that every church needs for its woman's groups. When I got to the end of the sampler I was sitting her saying, darn it, I wish there was more! (thankfully there is more in the full version of the study, I can't wait to get my hands on that and hear what God is wanting to teach us!

Everything the Bible says about Heaven. This may be a small book, but it is jam packed with information! What a valuable resource!! It is wonderful that some one took the time to put this book together and gather all the information that the Bible gives us about Heaven. such as where is it? or What does it look like? What do you do there? and so much more. Not only that, we also see the occasional commentary type writing in there about heaven and about what the original author of that book of the Bible is trying to say to us. This is one that I've referred back to over and over again. Great resource for those in the ministry or just those interested in a deeper relationship with God.

Amish Values for your Family, by Suzanne Woods Fisher. In this book Suzanne Fisher shows us the values of the Amish and how we can apply them to our lives. Suzanne has written many books on the Amish (fiction books), and is one of my favorite authors. Her Amish series the Choice, is my favorite series of Amish books. I am intrigued by the Amish lifestyle and how deep their faith is. So when the opportunity to read a book like this came a long I was ecstatic to read it! There are a long range of subjects covered in this book, from the strong beliefs the Amish have on marriage to raising children and the unique look that the Amish have of the world around them. I really liked this book. As with all of Suzanne Fisher's books that I own, it will take up a much loved spot on my book shelf. Most books I pass on to our church library or give away to friends, but her books are such a treasure to own that they are the ones that I do hold on to and look at over and over again.

While going through her mother's belongings Fannie finds some things that cause her to question who her family is and sends her in a search to find some answers to those questions. So she jumps aboard a ship set to Montana Fannie meets Samuel Beck. A mysterious man who Fannie can't help but find herself attracted to him. We travel with them and discover who they are in this story, and not only that but we also have the privilege of watching them both grow in their relationship with God. Its a very heartlifting story of our promises in God and how God wants to use all of us and love all of us, dispite any background we come from. This is definately a book I will be recommending.

Out of Control, by Mary Connealy. Julia is an independent woman. Loves nature and studying nature. She also has that headstrong side of her that says I don't need anyone else's help, I can do it on my own! Well she meets her match in Rafe Kincaid. The oldest of three boys, he has the tendency to think that he knows whats write in every situation and isn't afraid to share with others what they should be doing. Even if that other person is Julia! We see their struggle as they come together in this story battling danger and feelings for each other and the chance of reconciliation with family. Julia and Rafe are so completely opposite that you'll never see how on earth they could come together and make it! I did enjoy this story, while it wasn't my favorite and I'm not a fan of these types of novels to begin with. Mary Connealy add enough humor and intrigue to the story to keep you hooked till the end! definately a book worth reading!

A Confident Heart, by Renee Swope. Every woman out there struggles at some point in their lives with confidence. Some manage to overcome it, others live with it for their entire lives! Renee Swope has taken on what seems like a mountainous task of teach woman who they are in Christ. To speak the truth to them about who they are. One part of the book in particular stuck out to me, that was on pg. 106. Where she's telling us the story of Adam and Eve hiding from God because they realized they were naked. Renee takes that verse where God asks them "who told you, that you were naked?" and changes it a little (in a good way) to say "who told you that something is wrong with you? Some one had made them feel that they were shameful, but it wasn't God who cast shame on them. Woman tend to do the same thing, whether it be another woman who is casting shame on them or them believing the lies that Satan so often tells them. God isn't the one telling you that there's something wrong with you. He wants to meet you right where you are! This book covers a whole lot more on the topic of confidence and faith, etc... and really is a must read for all woman. this isn't just one of those books you should read, its one you must read! She offers us a freedom that God is speaking to us and spells it out for us! Everyone must read this book!!

Continuing her father's job as Colonel Mclinn's scrivener, she may just learn the truth of her father's death and the power of love and forgiveness.
Now, I'm in a pickle with this book lol. I dislike romance novels, even novels that are well written romance novels. This is definately a romance novel, but Laura Frantz has such a strong talent for writing that she draws you into her story. You feel the emotions, you feel like you are with Roxanna the entire time. So while I'm not a fan of the romance aspect of the novel, I have to say I am a huge fan of how talented of a writer Laura Frantz is! I liked the book despite my personal tastes! this is definately one of those books I'll be passing around to my friends to read!!

Rumors of God, by Darren Whitehead and Jon Tyson. We so often hear about the promises of God, the things He does for His people. But why is it that we feel like its not happening to us? Why does it seem to be for everyone else but us? In this book Pastors Darren and Jon, take on our questioning and show us stories of God still doing as he promises today! We see each chapter dismiss a "rumor" that we believe about God and what he does/doesn't do today. I really liked this book! I really thought it was an awesome read! I find so many times people are so caught up in the legalism of Christianity that they stop looking for the relationship. When the relationship is the real deal and legalism is just another tactic to derail us! Any book that looks at the myths and dispells them is a great book in my opinion. I loved this book and will be donating it to my church library so that many more can enjoy it as well! This is one book you don't want to miss out on.

My life and lesser Catastrophes, by Christina Schofield. We begin this book by hearing about Christina Schofield and her family. Her husbands job that takes up a lot of his time, the precious memories that they're making with a busy toddler, and how to try and fit in time with each other with busy scheduals. After it seems like Christina's husband has forgot about their anniversary he decides to take her for a quick ride on the motorcycle to celebrate it. Both cherish these times of riding on the motorcycle and have done it many times before. Except that this time is different. This time they hit a patch of loose gravel that sends them both flying off the bike. Christina with the exception of a concussion, has only some bumps and bruises. But her husband Allen, broke his neck. Life seems to shatter for the family as they try to pull themselves back together and ask the big questions.
I don't know what to all say about this book, it was simply amazing and needed. We all get questions about our faith and in dark times question everything. But its not often talked about. The part that hit home the most was when Christina prayed to go "please be real". I have prayed that before, but in christian circles its just not accepted to talk like that. It was burden lifting to know that some one else who's come from a place of being in ministry and had/has strong faith would ask the same questions. I highly recommend this book! God shines through and speaks through this book.

I read J. Mark Bertand's first novel in this series, back on murder, and it was just as great as this one! I hadn't thought much about it till I started reading and realizing that the characters sounded familiar. Then finally it clicked as to why! This is a great series and in fact I don't recommend just getting this book, but getting both books in the series and reading them! This book is an example of what I love about crime drama/thrillers from a Christian perspective. It is brilliantly written and I love the characters in this book. It is a must read!!

I have to say I am extremely surprised by this book!!!! It always makes me groan when I see a Christian novel that has war, Muslims and Iraq all in the same book! People are so quick to point the finger at the Muslims and mistake them as our enemy when they are not. This book does not do that!!! That's why I was so surprised! It is a refreshing read that connects you to the characters and to God. It has all those great things that make a suspense novel!! Suspense (obviously lol), drama, danger, etc.. This is one book that won't disappoint. And I huge congratulations to Davis Bunn for writing this novel in such a way that doesn't mislead people into thinking wrongly about who their enemy is! Its a hard subject to tackle and do well, Yet Davis Bunn does it very well!

Falls like Lightning by Shawn Grady. In this novel we meet Silas, who's a smoke jumper. Now if you're anything like me, you've likely never heard of the term smoke jumper before. I sure didn't know what that meant lol. I won't spoil it though, it'll give you the thrill of reading a book you know nothing about lol. Anyway Silas broke up with Elle years earlier, and low and behold guess who's the pilot for Silas's team??? That's right Elle! Makes for a pretty awkward and interesting scenario for the two of them in this novel. So as they battle a raging fire, they're also figuring out their feelings for each other!
So I'm not sure how to rate this book? It was well written, but it took you in so many directions in the novel and had so many different things going on at once. I definitely think its at least worth a read, but likely not one that I'll cherish forever!

This is the first book I've read by either John Trent or Gary Smalley, Although my husband has red books by Gary Smalley and recommends them quite often. So when the chance came up to review this book from booksneeze I took the opportunity. I dove right in the first day it arrived in the mail! I was not disappointed at all! It looks at the story of Jacob and Esau in a way I'd never read it before. They point out the five critical areas that a parent needs to give their child; Meaningful touch, a spoken message, attaching high value, picturing a special future and active commitment. This is not only for parents, but also for those who feel they haven't been given the "blessing" by their parents, family, friends, etc.. They include stories of life for those who didn't receive any of these five things from their parents and how to get past it. They show the pro's of having the blessing and the con's of not having it. They speak in a very blunt, but honest and loving way, I really appreciated that! This is a book that I'll be hanging on to for years and recommending it to friends/family. In fact I plan on using this book as a study for moms that we do at our church weekly in the fall. This is an excellent book that every parent should possess.

The Blessed, by Ann H. Gabhart. Lacey was taken in by the preacher and his wife as a young teenager to help Mona around the house. Mona seemed like the very voice of God, she always seemed to have the right words to say, and comfort to bring. When a small babe was dropped on their door step Mona never hesitated to accept the child as her own, the same went with Lacey. Four years later finds Mona in poor health and passing away. Lacey determined to keep the child that she helped raise as a daughter close to her as she can, does what ever it takes to make that happen. Even marry the mean preacher and then move to a shaker village.
I found the first couple of chapters a little confusing to figure out who was who and what the story line was, but once past there the story was magnificent! The shakers are an intriguing people and Ann Gabhart did well to make this into a story line for her novel! I've read other novels of Ann H Gabhart and have always enjoyed them and this one was no different. I love the story of forgiveness of yourself and from God in this story. Its a book that speaks to the heart of its readers!

This was a great book! I read the first book in this series and loved it! So when I received the opportunity to review this book I jumped at the chance!! I was not disappointed at all! The characters are captivating! you can totally relate to Emily! I loved this book and will love making it a part of my library.

This is a wonderful story of God grace and healing, overcoming difficulties and heartache. I really loved this book, these are topics that really aren't discussed too often in Christian circles, but a much needed topic to address! You could feel you heart break with her when she had to say good bye to her sons for the next 5 weeks, the author takes you along in the story and your emotions get caught up! That's true talent for an author to capture their audience so thoroughly.

They're hunting a killer while at the same time the killer is hunting them!! A surprise right to the end!
I really enjoyed this book, it was suspenseful from beginning to end. I've read the first two books in this series and loved them! This book was no different, it was fantastic! The only complaint I have is the cover! The covers drive me nuts lol, it just looks kinda cheesy! But thats the only thing I'd change about this book! Will be recommending this book and is a great addition to this series!!

I loved this book, its a really good read. It was entertaining from beginning to end. I love good suspense and this book has it! I love the story of forgiveness and love, how we're never to far from God to get back. Great book!

The sweetest thing, by Elizabeth Musser. Perri's life was great, she had lots of friends, lots of dates and a great family. She attended an all girls school and had a great social life! Then Dobb's arrives, she's weird, not like everyone else at the school. She talks about religion all the time. But tragedy strikes Perri's family and her world is torn apart. With Dobb's right there to help pick up the pieces.
Its not very often that you come across a book like this, it is a fictional story that tells so much more. Its about faith, loss of faith, heart ache, trouble etc.. This book isn't just about entertaining, its also about teaching the heart of God. You sense the spirit as you read this book. I couldn't get enough of this book, some how everyone can relate to the characters and the situations. I was enthralled from the moment I picked up this book to the moment I put it down. I was so tempted to skip to the end to find out what happened, but couldn't because I didn't want to miss what was in the middle. I highly recommend this book, its just so much more than just a work of fiction, its a work of art.

This dvd series is aimed toward teens and young adults/college age adults. The opening is very upbeat and attention catching. They then go into a classroom like setting where Dr. Stephen Meyer teaches on the reliability of the Bible. This curriculum package has 10 half hour video’s all talking about the reliability of the Bible and how we can know that its true. Also included in this curriculum/video series is a study guide with questions and comics etc...The basic idea of this series is to be able to get yourself in a place of knowledge to be able to defend your faith and know why you believe what you believe and how you know its true.

I actually really enjoyed this video series, I’m the kind of person that loves information and research and Dr. Meyer’s has really done well with that! I’m not so sure that teens would be interested in sitting through it lol, as the beginning is very up beat and then go into a very calm information filled time. But I do think this is absolutely a great video and full of GOOD information!! He does the work for us! I highly recommend it!!!

Leaving, by Karen Kingsbury. Baily, a talented young actress, has a dream to be on broadway. Having already appeared in a movie (unlocked, also a book by karen Kingsbury and an awesome book at that), she has the advantage of expereince and true talent. She also has the opportunity to ignite a relationship with her co-star from Unlocked. But Baily's not sure she's ready for the life that would come being in a relationship with a celebrity. On top of that she's still not sure on her feelings anymore for Cody. Who decided that Baily deserved more than some one like him, who had a past such as he did, so left and denied all contact with Baily and her family who loved him so much! So we follow Baily as she travels for her audition, falls in love, and reconciles her past to the best point she can.
This is only my second book that I've read by Karen Kingsbury, but just as the last one, this one is amazing! Its hard not to fall in love with all the characters and the way that Karen includes a deep faith and faith filled lessons in her books! I got through this book in one day because I couldn't put it down! Awesome book!

Heaven is for real, by todd Burpo with Lynn Vincent. I have to start by saying this is an amazing book. The write up on the back calls the story extraordinary and it truely is! We meet Colton Burpo who ends up needing an emergency appendectomy and almost didn't make it! He tells his parents about his trip to heaven and talking with God and Jesus and that he could even see them. He told them about things that they were doing during his surgery that he would have no knowledge of outside of being able to see it himself outside of his body! When he came back he was able to tell his parents of people he saw in heaven that he should have no knowledge about, such as a baby sister who miscarried years before and they never told the kids about her. Even seeing family that had passed years before he was born and being able to describe them and tell them things that they said to him that he'd have no natural knowledge of. We see Heaven through a child's eyes. I have no doubt that colton did indeed visit Heaven and see all that he did. I know there will be naysayers out there, and frankly yes they could have made it up? but for what purpose? Everything that Colton's father tells us about what Colton said in this book is completely in line with the Bible (I know because I checked lol). I love this story and have read it over and over again! This is one of those books you don't want to miss, and you need to have your own copy of, it absolutely is a must have for the personal library!!

Momsense, a common-sense guide to confident mothering, by Jean Blackmer. What I appreciate most about this book is the acknowledgement by Jean Blackmer, that there is no one perfect parenting (mothering) style. We are all created differently and created with different mothering techniques that work with our personalities. So we don't need to feel shame or despair that we're not a parent like so and so, because God didn't create you to be a parent like any other. He created you to be the parent that's perfect for your child! We have the skills already in us to parent our kids and parent them well, sometimes though we just need a little push or encouragement, which is what this book does! I strongly dislike almost all parenting books, as most will tell you this is the proper way to raise a child and if you're not doing it this way then you're doing something wrong. This book is not like that. Moms have it hard enough in this world today with out being beat down by other moms who want to have mommy wars. This book is filled with advice on whats worked for other moms (no necessarily meaning that it'll work for you, but might be a tool that could come in handy) as well as stories from other moms! This is an excellent book and a great resource for all mothers out there!

A heart divided, by Kathleen Morgan. The Caldwells and Wainwrights have been fueding for years, ever since the father of the Wainwright family scammed land from the father of the Caldwell family through a deck of cards. Not willing to sit back any longer and gaining the courage through alchohol the Caldwell father takes his shot gun to the Wainwright property to settle it! Not intending to actually use it on anyone, but being drunk, accidently fires his weapon wounding a young boy and sending the mother into labour. Ultimately ending her life as well during the stressful birthing process. Now years later their children are all grown up and the Caldwells know very well of how horrible the Wainwrights are! Besides that they have a sick younger brother to take care of and no money to do so. So the father devises a plan that has Sarah trying to suduce the Wainwright son while her brothers and father steal their money! But it catches back up with them when the Wainwright son (cole) spots Sarah while out buying supplies and takes her under a citizens arrest until the sherriff gets back in town. Only what they didn't expect was to start falling for each other after so many years of hate!
This book is on the fence for me, while I enjoyed the story and the lesson behind it on the other hand I didn't really care for Sarah's character. I wanted her to stand up for herself and fight and she seemed to rather do the opposite for most of the book. So thats why I'm on the fence lol, it was good I just didn't like one of the characters! So you'll have to read it and decide for yourself! It is really well written!

To Win her heart, by Karen Witemeyer. Eden is the town librarian, her father one of the founders of the town! So when the town decides to hire a blacksmith she makes sure she's there on her father's behalf to approve of the man. What she see's surprises her, this isn't a man, more like a giant!! Muscular and tall! Unable to stop herself Eden finds herself drawn to this man that she knows so little about! At first he seems uneducated, but his language points in another direction.
Levi Grant has finished his sentance in prision for the unintentional death of a man he was fighting with. The chaplin from the prision sends him with references to a minister friend of his who sets him up with a job as the town blacksmith. But also warns him that while he doesn't need to share his past with everyone, he may not want to let the people find out any other way but through him. Levi also finds himself drawn to the town librarian, makes a point of going to the library every day to read and see the librarian. He finds himself falling in love with her, but is unsure how she will react when she finds out his past!
For the most part I really enjoyed reading this book. I found it a little predictable in parts as well as the behavior of the lead female a little silly at times. Overall it is a great book and a good read! I do recommend it!

So Lucy and her sister (Sophia) and her mother move in and discover their talents! Lucy also gets the chance to meet Rowena, a socialite, who's quite taken with Lucy and quickly becomes friends with her. Lucy not only has an eye for sewing, but also finds a way to alter Rowena's dresses to hide her disability! Rowena comes up with a plan and brings Lucy with her to her summer home. There Rowena is facing an arranged marriage to a man and while she finds him very nice and a gentleman, she doesn't love him. Lucy also finds love in this novel, but all isn't as it seems!!
this was an awesome book! I really enjoyed it! I didn't find it predictable as you often do with love stories. This is a great addition to the library!

She's already a great fiction writer (especially her amish stories), so this book just added to her own writings and opens her readers up to not only the amish world, but also more of an understanding of her books too! It comes in a gift book format and while small is really cute! with sketched illustrations through out the book, the book is broken down into 12 sections (prayers for a new day, prayers for divine guidance, etc..). This book can be used for your own personal devotions as well as an asset to a group bible study. I really enjoy this little book!!

Rejoice (CD)

Rejoice, woman of faith worship cd, by the woman of faith worship band. I just recieved this CD in the mail yesterday and stuck it in the cd player right away! There were a few songs that I recognized and was able to sing along with, but most were new to me! I love a good worship CD that I can stick in the car and listen to for hours, but unfortunately I can't say this would be one of those CD's. Part of the reason I didn't enjoy it was because I love the live worship CD's and this was obviously not. But the other promblem was that I found that who ever did the mixing for this album didn't do a great job. The vocals were fantastic and they did awsome, but it was very obvious that a midi machine was used for mixing and really took away from the songs. That style of mixing always reminds me of the 80's/90's music, which isn't what you're looking for in a CD for 2011! While I'm sure there will be many that do enjoy this CD, I am not one of them!

Heart of lies, by Jill Marie Landis. Maddie and her "brothers" find a place to stay and what Maddie hopes is a new life without all the troubles of the past. These "brothers" were alongside her as part of the tribe (thieves and beggars), but when the tribe disbanded the stuck together and found a new place to call home. Happy to no longer be living that old life and having hope for a better future, Maddie suddenly finds herself thrown back into her old world when her brothers kidnap a child to hold for ransom. The child is left in Maddie's care, making her an accomplice in this crime. The little girl escapes from Maddie's care and Maddie finds herself chasing the child in an attempt to not ruin her own life. What she doesn't expect is to meet Tom, he is assigned to this case and is also pursing the child. But things get really messed up when they realize they have feelings for each other!
I enjoyed this book, I found it a little hard to get in to for the first little bit, but once I got past the first few chapters I was enthralled! Its exciting, full of suspense, love and so hard to put down!

Kathryn and David Henley are also faced with fear again when Kevin Dylan escapes from prison to finish off what he started. We sit with Kathryn and look through her old shoe box containing the memories of her past, while she is unaware that she is being watched...
I have to be honest with this book, it was a hard one to get through. The story line was good and the idea behind the story was great. But it was so hard to sit through and read. I just did not find this book very captivating. It could just be me and just not appreciating this style of writing, but I really had a rough time getting through it. so for that reason I say borrow the book from the library or friend, you may find you'd enjoy it. But for me personally I did not.

John on the other hand is passionate and will fight for his life, he will not leave his new wife easily.
If it would be normal to hug a book, I'd hug this book. It was that good! An incredible story of God's faithfulness and provision. Its a historical romance based on real events, which just opens the story up all the more! This book kept me captivated for hours, I literally could not put it down! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be passing it on to those around me who enjoy this style of reading!!!! Thank you!

Love amid the ashes, by Mesu Andrews. In this novel we read about the account of Job. His sufferings, his losses and his heart break! We also follow Dinah and her part in Job's story! It must be remembered though that although this is an actual event in the Bible that the details and story are fictional (outside of what the Bible says about Job's life). It does really open up the life of Job to you and the possibilities of what may have all happened in his life. This book reminds me a lot of the wives of David series, which I really enjoyed! I was blown away when I read that this was Mesu Andrews first novel! Its a fantastic novel which you don't regularly find with a first time writer! Very well done!! I really enjoyed reading Andrews account of Biblical events and the story line in there! This is a book I'm sure all will love! I highly recommend it!

When Life's not Working, by Bob Merrit. Bob Merrit is a pastor of a large church who has compiled his years of experience along side studies to write this book about life! Life's not easy for most anyone, but do we make our lives un-necessarily hard? Bob Merrit gives us steps to do well in our lives and not have to constantly have the "hard" times come. He's not saying that we'll always have good things happen to us, obviously we will face hard times as we live in a fallen world. Just that times don't necessarily have to be as hard on us, we can get through them better than we have been! and then just maybe they won't come nearly as often!!! He lists 7 important principles (for lack of a better word lol). 1. Don't quit. 2. Do a few Things well. 3. Be prepared. 4. Increase your consistency. 5. Use small tugs. 6. Stretch yourself. 7. Practice Self-control.
Overall this really was an excellent book, I have a feeling I'll be referring back to it time and time again! He has great points and teaches in an easily understood way. I'll not only be using this book myself, but it will be one of those books that you lend out to friends!!!

Tabitha blames God for not answering her prayers and for not bringing her fiance back after he took off before the wedding and got snatched by the English who forced him to fight in their war.
Dominick is in America with some secrets of his own, passing notes to english ships and constantly out on the beach after curfew, where the men of the town of been stolen by the british ships.
Then suddenly Tabitha's fiance returns, but carrying secrets of his own. Why did they let him go? Tabitha finds herself falling for the British servant, but unsure if she can even trust him. Then with her former fiance thrown into the picture who's trying to win her back, makes for an interesting life for Tabitha!
This book was really good, I quite enjoyed it! There were some parts I found a little corny, such as Tabitha's constant declaration that she was a healer and could not hurt another creature. But other than that it really was a good read. It kept me captivated till the end of the book! I do recommend this book to others to read, its historically interesting as well as just a really good read!

Live loved, by Max Lucado. Lived loved is a gift book/devotional by Max Lucado that is a combination of many of the books he's written over the years. Such as Fearless, Facing your giants, etc. He tackles the heart of the reader to understand that God does love them! He also leaves a space in the back of the book for personal notes from the readers to be able to write in their book!
This is another great book by Max Lucado! But seriously has he ever written a bad book? lol. I really enjoyed it, although I wouldn't use it as the only tool in personal devotion time, even though he does include scripture and great insight. I think you need more than 2 pages of devotional time in my personal opinion! ;) Its the perfect size to pop in a Bible case to carry around with you and is seriously a cute little book as a gift too! Sure to bless the person reading it! Again this will be another one of my favourites from Max Lucado!

All the questions are broken down into categories to make it more user friendly ;) . This is classic Max Lucado writing filled with Godly insight!
I really enjoyed this book! It was easy to read, he answered so many questions. So there's bound to be at least a few that hit home for everyone!! lol. Max Lucado is a brilliant writer, who has been immensely gifted at teaching. This book is another prime example of that! Its a great resource for those in the ministry, but also great for those who are not. Its a book you'll flip back to time and again as you look for answers to the every day questions we face! This is a definite need to read book for all out there!!!

I have a 7 year old daughter, who's at the age where she needs a full Bible not the story book kind. So when I saw this Bible available on Booksneeze I jumped at the chance to review it! I have to tell you I was not disappointed in any way. It is written in ICB so its super easy for the younger reading levels to read, on top of that if you have a child who knows they're a princess like mine does. The fact that its pink, has sparkles and sequins is an added bonus. Not only does my daughter love this Bible, I do too! its the perfect Bible for the little girl in your life!! It also has some maps as well as a dictionary/concordance in the back of it. There was nothing about this Bible that I don't like! I think its awesome and if you have the chance to get it for your daughter, I highly recommend you do! She'll love it!!

The Dopple Ganger Chronicles-the first escape, by G.P. Taylor. Twins Sadie and Saskia are living in a home for wayward children. Their mom dropped them off there with a promise that she would return for them. But Sadie and Saskia find themselves getting in more and more trouble. Seems to be what they're good at. Then all the sudden a wealthy woman comes to the school with the purpose of adopting a girl, but she only wants one. So Saskia is adopted and Sadie is left at the school. While Sadie is at the school running rampant and getting in more trouble than before, Saskia finds herself in the middle of a huge mistery and the desire to get to the bottom of whats going on at this mysterious house!
This book is well written and the story is captivating. The problem I have is that it is not a children's story. It talks of murder, seance's, and people carrying guns and being willing to shoot them. It is not a story I'd be comfortable letting my children read. It seems to be geared towars the 8-12 year olds, but thats still too young for my comfort. Those are not storylines that are appropriate for children. So I'm sorry to say that this is not a book that i would recommend. If it were for a teen, then maybe, but at that point I think the style of book would be too young for them. I have heard great things about this author although I haven't read any other books by him. I was blown away that some one who writes children's book would pick these topics? I was happy that I read this book before I allowed my child to read it, as now i will not be allowing her to read it.

Lazarus Awakening, by Joanna Weaver. In this book Joanna Weaver confrims that God loves us. Each and every one of us dispite what we do or don't do. His love is unconditional and always available! People tend to have a hard time believing that an all powerful, Holy God could love some one like them. With all the terrible stuff they've done, or the lack of things they should have done. How could God love us? Joanna looks at scripture and shows us how none of those things are dependant on God's love for us, He simply loves us because we're his children! He loves the unloveables!
This book is an awesome reminder of God's love for his people, I really enjoyed it! So often we're taught all the "rules" of living a christian life while forgetting the freedom and love that comes from God. When we live a rules based lifestyle its easy to loose the belief that God really does love you. I highly recommend this book to every woman out there! I recall reading her book Having a mary heart in a Martha world. This book is just as good!!

Angel Sister, by Ann H. Gabhart. Kate is the middle child, she's also the child holding the family together. Living through the depression gets to anyone, for Kate's father it leads him to alcoholism! Kate's younger sister seems oblivious to the problems in their home which is a small comfort to Kate.
While on her way to drop some stuff off for her grandfather kate comes across a small child who's been abandoned by her parents. Not because she was not wanted, but because they knew they couldn't provide for her with the economy in the shape it was in. So they left her at the church with the hopes and prayers that a good family would find her and take her in. Little does Kate know that this sad little girl found on the church steps would change her life and her community!
This is the first book I've read from Ann Gabhart, and I have to say it was fantastic. It is such a touching story! it is well written and keeps you hanging on to the book till the last page. I don't know how many times I thought "I need to put this book down and get some other work done, but just one more page" which turned into more and more pages until I got through the rest of the book!! This is a great book and I look forward to reading more books from Ann Gabhart. It is a book that I highly recommend to any "book nerd" out there. a great story!!

They are trying despritely to keep their person romantic life out of the media, so as a result try to keep this a secret. Which wouldn't be so hard except for Kat's grandmother! Who seems to blur the line between fiction and reality, creating problems for Kat and Scott!
I have to admit, i didn't think I'd like this book. It just doesn't seem like a genre that I'd appreciate. But this book is hilarious!!! Kats grandmother is fantastically funny and makes the book just that much better!! I don't know if I've ever read a comedy book, but this one was great! Not only having comedy on its side it also has suspence!! I seriously am not doing this book justice, you need to read it and see for yourself. I promise you will not be disappointed!!!!

Bess has been requested by her grandmother to come help her out on her rose farm. Her grandmother famous for her rose jam, isn't quite honest in her attempt to get Bess to come for the summer and help, but Bess comes and stays anyway. While there Bess meets Billy who she figures will make this time at her grandmothers place at least bearable! Except that Billy doesn't appear to be interested in her, he seems to find her more of a nusance! We also meet Lainey who left Stoney Ridge years ago, happens to find herself back in lancaster county and stuck there at least for a while as well! years ago she made a decision before she left that has far more impact then she could ever imagine. Its a secret that Bess's grandmother has kept well! That Connects Bess and Lainey.
The lancaster series is my absolute favourite series of books ever. I've read both of the previous books in this series and enjoyed them so much, this one was no exception! Suzanne Woods Fisher is my favourite author. Most books I recieve I read once and then donate them to our local church library, but the lancaster series I can't seem to let go! Its kept and treasured for years to come! I can't even put in words how much I loved this book! Its not a disappointment at all, it completely lives up to the rest of the series. I'd read the other books a while ago and was waiting and checking every month to see if this book would come up for review, I was so excited that it did!! Read it! Treasure it! Enjoy it!!!!

Its important to maintain that relationship with your child, but parents of adult children need to realize that their role as parents has also chnaged. They need to allow their children to make their own choices and face their own consequences! They need to be there for advice when they're turned to for advice. But a part of raising your children is when they get to that age where they are now adults you have to trust them and yourself that they've got the foundations they needed to be an adult.
I am a mom to small children ages 4 and 7, so I didn't think this book would be very applicable to me lol. But I sat down to read it anyway, and I'm happy to report that I was wrong! While it hasn't helped me with my children yet, it has definately given me insight in what I need to be teaching them and how to raise them. Its also helped me understand my mother's role now and how she must be feeling. and in that way I am greatful that I did read this book! I highly recommend this book to any parents of adult children, as well as to those looking to understand their mothers better!!

Filled with love, thrill, danger and intrigue. We follow these ladies as they follow their hearts, or what they think their hearts want. With each senerio being forbidden for the time it was written in.
I have read a few of Siri Mitchell's books and she has never disappointed. Her stories are well written and extreaming captivating. This is probably among my favourites of Mitchell's books, it kept me wanting to keep reading and ignore all responsibilities!! She has a magical way of writing that gets the reader thinking and just pulls them deeply into the story. You feel like you are right there watching the stories happen in front of you, she possess the ability to describe the story in such a way that its like watching a movie in your head as you read along. Thats a skill few possess. I highly recommend this book, it is one that will be thoroughly enjoyed!

It is honestly a great book for anyone struggling with their faith or struggling with doubt or even any of those "why" questions. He walks you through the different questions and answers them. Its not a book you can just pick up and read and its an easy read. you need to be purposeful in reading it and pay attention. He loads a lot of information into this little book! It is definately one that will be joining my library and will get good use out of it!

I really loved this book, if everyone would make an effort to just try this we could start the healing of a nation. Not just non-believers, but we have so many believers that hold onto hurt and unforgiveness and past experiences and it holds them back from the calling that God has for them! it was so hard to stick to just reading one chapter a day, so often I did a bunch of them a day lol, this is a must read for all christians, its time to transform our hearts.

That was until her husband decided he wanted some one else. So Andrea accepts a job with a child protective services near where her parents live and move her son and herself out there to start their lives over. Justin (her son) hurt, angry and bitter about his parents broken marriage and their broken home gets into some trouble with some friends which get him in contact with the game warden, Mart. A little girl seen with an unlikely caregiver causes concern around the town and leads Mart and Andrea to search for this child and find out who she is.
I did enjoy this book! It started off a little confusing in the first couple of chapters because we switch back and forth between seeing things in Mart and Andrea's eyes. But once you get the flow of that it becomes and easy read! Its packed full of mystery that keeps you hanging on!!! A great addition to the fiction library!

Promises to Keep, by Ann Tatlock. Roz watched as they pulled away and left their life behind. She watched her father break down sobbing on their front porch as her mother drove away with her, her sister and her brother, never to return to him. She understood some what why her mom would want to leave, her father could be a really scary guy, but he had good points about him too. And she missed him terribly. They moved close to where her grandfather lived, with his help. Unexpectedly Tillie, the elderly lady they bought the house from, returns to the house demanding that its still hers. Things end up working out with Tillie though as Roz's mom needs to work and needs some one to watch the kids, so Tillie moves in! Roz also meets a best friend! One who understands what its like not to have her father near! So they make a pact to pray for each other's dad to come back to them! Roz gets a surprise when she finds her father in their small town! Although he makes her promise that she won't tell anyone he's there. He promises her that he'll be back with them soon and they'll all be together forever!
This was an unbelievable book! I loved it! it was so suspensful and had me almost yelling at my book for Roz to stop keeping this secret! It is such a captivating book! I couldn't put it down and when I did finish I found myself sad that it was all done lol. I highly recommend reading this book, you won't be disapointed in it! I can't wait to get my hands on more books by this author!

Another Dawn, by Kathryn Cushman. Grace Graham is a single mom with a darling little boy who is her world, Dylan. He is the only one Grace hasn't ran from. When times get tough Grace tends to take off, she always has. Only now her sister has called her to help care for her father who is undergoing surgery and gives her the ultimatium to step up as a part of the family or get out. Grace not wanting to loose the relationship she has with her sister makes the trip to care for her father for a couple of weeks. Only Grace didn't see coming the outbreak of measles effecting her and her home town. When her son contacts the measles because of a decision grace made not to get him vaccinated. She finds herself in the toughest situation she's had to face yet. Almost and entire town angry with you, including your own sister! Not only that but the guilt of bring this disease with them and infecting the littlest of the community who can't be vaccinated against it.
This was an excellent book! I really just couldn't put it down! It was so nice to read a Christian fiction novel about a young woman that wasn't a romance novel! There are so many lessions about God through out this book too! I look forward to reading more books from Kathryn Cushman! My only objection to this book is that in the end it seems to be portrayed that she made the wrong choice for not vaccinating and she should have. Vaccinating is a personal choice for each parent to make and I didn't feel like the book needed to go in that direction.

Paws and Tales, biblical widom for kids, by Chuck Swindoll. In this video series we meet a group of friends who get into different adventures that tie in biblical truths. There are two episodes on this dvd. The first one being "a good neighbor" where all the kids decide to built their own forts/club houses after disagreeing on how it should be built. But they miss the foundational requirements to build a secure club house and end up in some trouble! This episode is tied in with making God your strong foundation and that anything you build on it will be strong! They also end it with a music video that is quite entertaining! The second episode on this dvd is "The good shepherd". C.J. and Ned decide to be shepherds for a day, but then wolves attack the sheep when C.J. falls asleep on the job and the sheep suffer. So C.J. and ned come up with a plan to take care of the sheep and the wolves! This story is tied into the Bible by comparing it to Jesus, the good shepherd. And how he takes care of us in every situation and is always alert!

I found this dvd to be good. It's obviously geared towards younger children (6 and under), and my children found it a very entertaining series. I liked that it did include talking about God and Jesus and used scripture. While for the most part I don't think the kids will get that the story is a comparison of the biblical truth, but since they spell it out for you in the end it does get the point across! This is a video I feel find letting my children watch as it doesn't have any questionable scenes or language! Regret Free Parenting, by Catherine Hickem. In this book we look at parenting in a way that leaves you happy with how you raised your kids, with obviously the end goal being respectful good children into adults. Catherine gives us 7 principles in her book that let you know if you are doing well, as well as a lot of examples and stories of these working in her own life/family. She also breaks it down in ages from little to adolescence. She even includes homework (workbook type deal) at the end of the book ;). Basically she tells us we need a plan (a good one lol) in place about how we're going to raise our children and stick to it! Most importantly our relationship with God is number one priority, if we aren't living in an intimate relationship with God we can't possibly get parenting right!
Over all I think this book is pretty good! I like her insight and her idea's on parenting and I like that she does so biblically. I haven't tried it all out yet with my family, but I intend to! It sounds like a good idea and at least worth trying! I don't think you need to grasp ahold of everything she teaches, but she does give some great advice to us parents for getting it right! I do recommend this book, I actually really enjoyed it!

Fruit of the Spirit: Love, by Calvin Miller. In this book we find a study guide on the book of Galatians focusing on the fruit of the spirits, mainly love. Calvin miller does a six week study on the subject of love and its practical application and results in our lives. The book is set up in such a way that it can be done by either using it for personal devotion time, or to do it as a group. included is also study questions to get discussion going. Calvin Miller takes a foundational look at love in Galatians and what it should look like to us and how we should be using it.
I'm not too sure what kind of review to give this book? I did enjoy it for what it was, and that was a simple devotional book, looking at the foundations of love. What I had expected from the description of the book was an in-depth look at love and that it was not. I am the kind of person that likes to research things in the bible. I like to know who wrote, why they wrote it, who it was written too, what it meant to the people of that time as well as to go back to the Hebrew of that verse and see how that's been changed in translation, etc. To me that is an in-depth look at love. That's what I really wanted to find in this book, but it was not. The daily reading is really easy and can been done in a short amount of time every day, and yes it would probably do well in a group setting of people discussing. I can't give it a bad review as it is a good devotional and study, that does teach about love, but its not an in-depth look at it and I imagine it would do really well as a study for new believers or as a refresher on love!

Fatal Judgement, by Irene Hannon. Jake is a U.S Marshal Who's been assigned to a new case, protecting judge Liz Micheals, who's sister was shot with the bullet that was meant for her! Jake is less than thrilled to get this assignment as his best friend was married to this judge until he was drove to suicide, of which he considers the judge to blame. We follow Jake and Liz throughout this adventure of danger, action, romance and second chances. To find that not everyone is who they appear to be!
This book grabbed a hold of me and just wouldn't let me go! I could not put it down, I am a huge fan of a good suspense novel and this one is excellent!! I loved all the details they included, the author obviously did her work in finding out what being a U.S. Marshal all entails and it shows in this story! this is definitely a must read novel for the library and I look forward to reading more in the series!! My only beef with this novel was the cover lol, I'm just not a fan of the man/woman pose thing. But obviously that doesn't effect the story, just a pet peeve of mine lol.

The Damascus Way, by Davis Bunn & Janette Oke. Julia is devastated to discover that her life was not what she thought it was! Her father has a wife and other children, while her mother was never married to her father, but rather given to him as a slave. This discovery leaves Julia searching for something, she's considered second class because of who she is now. What kind of life could she possibly lead? Was she destined to always be "lesser" of a person? That was until she found "the way" and her life changed! We travel with Julia through out this book in the adventures she finds herself as a part of a courier!
I did not read the first 2 books in this series, so The Damascus Way was my first book! I was a little hesitant to read it with out having read the first two, but I was not disappointed! In fact this just makes me want to read the rest of the series even more! The authors seem to be very careful to take caution not to oppose scripture for the sake of the story, which was very important! Although this obviously is a fiction novel and not historical or Biblical events (although they are based on biblical events), it opens up your imagination to really think about what life would have been like to the people in New Testament times? Its so easy to just read and not think about the people in the Bible as "real" people, so books like this are so appreciated! It is an uplifting and encouraging book that I loved reading, I definitely recommend reading this one as well as getting your hands on all the books in the series!

Paradise Valley, by Dale Cramer. In this novel we meet Caleb Bender and his family. With special attention given to Rachel! Life was going on as it normally does in that quiet Amish coloney, when the government steps in and decides that the Amish families are neglecting their children and using them, by having them work on the farm and learn hands on rather than attending the public schools. A law is passed making it compulsery for all chidren to attend public school. The Amish villiage try's to stand firm against the governments decision, but having been backed into a corner, find that they must send their children to school or risk loosing them and having them grow up in foster homes. Caleb Bender on a quest to find some way to keep the ways of the world from being taught to his children in the public school system, finds an advertisment for farm land in Mexico and moves is family up there to live. Young Rachel must leave behind the boy, who's quickly becoming a man, who she's fallen in love with. She's unsure if he'll ever get to join her in this new country and life, filled with adventure and bandits!
I love a good Amish novel, I am a huge fan of them! It is my favorite kind of books to read ever! There's just something about their lifestyle that is so appealling! So I was more than excited to have recieved this book! And this book did not disappoint! It was great! It ranks up there with the Amish books by Beth wiseman and Suzanne Woods Fisher! it is a great book about steadfast faith in times of trouble! I will be reading it again and again! thank you!

It opens up a whole new world to what we thought scriptures mean and how to interpret them! It makes verses that you thought you knew, come alive again and give new meaning to them! This is a fantastic aid to your daily Bible reading! I had the privilege of having this book arrive at the house just a few days before I was going to be doing a bible study on prayer, this book was so helpful with that. and really helped open eyes to what God actually wants from us in prayer, not only does prayer mean us talking to him, but it also means us listening to what God is saying to us! I will be using this book as a devotional for a while to come as I pour over it again and again! This book is filled with knowledge that will aid you in filling yourself with knowledge!! I am excited and privileged to have been a part of reviewing this book!!

The Girl in the Gate House, by Julie Klassen. In this book we meet young Mariah Aubrey. She made some really bad decissions and fell for a less than honourable man. As a result found herself banished from her home and family and sent to live in the gate house of her aunts estate. Her aunt soon passes away and Mariah finds her self in a rather hard position, because the step son of her aunt isn't quite as charitable as she was. So mariah decides to see if she can get some of her books she's written published to try and raise money to support herself. As well as to warn other young girls of the problems of falling for the wrong guy! Little did she know that despite all that she'd been through, that she was still worth loving and God had some one who was perfect for her still!!
I really really enjoyed this novel! I would say its a romance novel, but most of it doesn't have to do with romance till you get to the end of the book! It really is a story of redemption and reconciliation! I loved the characters and I loved that Julie Klassen was willing to write a book on the things that generally aren't talked about in Christian novels! This one will take a place among the list of my favorite books! The story was great, the writting was excellent! A must have for those who love christian fiction novels!!!

Nelson's Biblical Cyclopedic Index. I recieved this book today in the mail. I already love it! Its a fantastic resourse for any Pastor, ministry leader, etc... It is extreamly easy to use and covers a wide range of subjects! For example if you want to look up woman in the bible you just turn to the "W" section and and find woman and it lists all the women mentioned in the bible and where to find them! Not only that, but there are also word study's that give you the original greek/hebrew, what the word used translates too and the verses that its used in. They've taken a concordance, a topical Bible and a Bible dictionary and turned it into one book! One awesome book! I will be keeping this book close to my Bible. It is a great resourse that should line every's bookshelf! I will definately be recommending this to all the people I know in the ministry!

Christmas at Harrington's, by Melody Carlson. A new start. That is what Lena is looking for and hopes to find in this city. But life just doesn't seem to be going her way, Christmas is coming soon and she doesn't really have anything. Not knowing what she's going to do she learns of the generousity of others when she's given a red coat. That coat finally lands her a job and hopefully the new life she's been dreaming of! But its really hard keeping your past in the past, especially when its a past like Lena's.
I love Melody Carlson's Christmas books! they're fantastic! They're heart warming, she the true spirit of Christmas, and leave you feeling inspired! Its a short book, but a great story! I will definately be passing this book on to friends and family. Melody Carlson has done it again, She's written another great book!

Within my Heart, by Tamera Alexander. In this book we meet Rachel, who's been widowed and left with two young boys. She's struggling to make things work, to provide for her family without her husband around to do it any longer. But things go from bad to worse for Rachel when her cattle start getting sick and she has to turn to Dr. Brookston, who she's gone to lengths to avoid. She knows the life of a physicians family as her father was a physician and his lack of time spent with them was proof of that. She will try and avoid that at all costs. But after some interesting things happen her heart just might be turned towards the doctor.
I did not read the first two books in this series as I received this as a part of an agreement to read and blog about this book. I wish I had been able to read the first two books, I imagine it would have opened up the characters even more in this book! Not that it wasn't good, it was excellent I loved reading it, and could keep up with the characters with out having read the first two books! I love historical fiction books (well this one's also a romance as well lol), and this one was no exception. Tamera Alexander does an excellent job of drawing her readers into her novel to where you feel you are in the book just watching life happen around you. I love a good book you can just get lost in and this is one of those books! I great read for the fiction reader in the family!!

So often we find ourselves stressed out, bordering on depression or neck deep in depression. What can we do before we get to that point? Is that the life that God intended for us? Dr. Weber shows us through her education and training and hands on expertise what the life we're intended to live from God is. She also grounds it biblically with applicable scripture! God didn't create us to live a mundane life, he created us to flourish!!
I had a little trouble getting into the first couple of chapters of this book, to me it seemed kind of repetitive and nothing that I didn't already know prior to reading the book, but keep reading!! She does an excellent job of teaching woman how to lay down their life for God and in return gain their lives! She teaches us on having a positive outlook despite circumstances, and I can attest to that working!!! She gives great practical advice from a biblical perspective! a must have for the personal library for every woman!

I was so excited when I saw this book come up for review! Its not often that I've seen writers such as Cindy Jacobs on the choices for blog reviews! I have listened to Cindy Jacobs preach and I really enjoy her teaching! Reading this book is almost like being in a room with her! Her writing style closely resembles her preaching style! I think this book is a must have for every congregation, at least get it in the hands of your intercessors, but go further than that and put it in the library and encourage people to read it! Her book is biblically sound and is a great teaching on prayer! I loved it! I will be pushing and recommending this book to everyone I can! Its not the tradition prayer book, which is basically a how to book on prayer. Rather she teaches Bible truths on prayer and personal revelation and how you can go deeper into your prayer life! I found myself in every chapter saying "yes" and "thats right". It is a very good book!!! You must read it!!

The Narnia Code, by Michael Ward. In this book Michael Ward takes us through C.S. Lewis's life and how it all makes sense in how he wrote the chronicles of Narnia. His facination with the planets, his favorite poems and stories, and the history of all those and how they relate to Christianity have all shaped his works. We learn a great deal of C. S. Lewis's life and his passions! All of this explains (according to Ward) his purposes and reasons for including all that he did in his narnia works. Lewis was very purposeful in every character he included in those stories.
I really really enjoyed the first part of this book! I did learn a great deal of history about Lewis and how captivating of a person and author he was! I learned things I'd never known before, espeically about the planets and their relation to the days and beliefs that went with them. If only the book had just ended there or talked just about that stuff it would be so good! Unfortunately it comes off very conspiracy theoryish when he starts thinking he knows exactly why Lewis included the characters he did and that the books are based off of the 7 planets that they felt had influence. Why pick apart a great collection of stories like that? I really didn't enjoy the last half of the book. If you want to learn more about lewis then its a good read, but it goes down hill when it gets to the conspiracy part of it. Its still worth a read but the ending isn't as exciting and captivating as the begining. Ward is a talented writer, so its well written. I just am not a fan of last part of the book!

Bonhoeffer, Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, by Eric Metaxas. In this biography we read about the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. From his childhood to his adult life and death. We learn of the great compassion for people and his courage! Leaving a safe life and putting himself in danger. Entering area's where Nazi's are killing the Jewish people and even participating in a plan to assassinate Hitler! Following his convictions even unto death!
This book started off a little arrogant sounding, as the author went back into the life and the class system that Bonhoffer's family belonged to and the great people in his family. But once you can get past that part the rest of the book is great! I have to admit I had never even heard of Bonhoeffer until I had read this book! The author does a great job in telling Bonhoeffer's life and giving us an idea of who this man was! I will be pouring myself over books about this man! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn more of Bonhoeffer and what it is to truely live out the red letter gospel! Amazing!

She marries this man, never expecting much other than an escape and then finds what true love really is!
     What the Heart Sees, by Kathleen fuller. A horrible accident occurs that leaves Ellie blind, her whole world seems to go out of Control, so much has been taken away from her! Ellie has resigned herself to believe she'll never love again and that no one will ever love her. That is until love reappears!
      I can't even begin to explain how much I love Amish stories. I get my hands on every copy I can find. Beth Wiseman is one of my favorite authors in the genre! I was so excited to get the opportunity to read this book! Not only that but Both Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Long also are extreamly talented writers of this genre!! This is a book I'll love and read over and over again! It is gift worthy to your book lover out there, I guaruntee that you will love this book if you read it!!

In this book we find practical advice on cutting down on your grocery budget with out cutting out taste or healthiness. From planning ahead, buying in bulk, preparing meals etc..As well on tips on how to make this work for you by giving you more free time.
A lot of the advice in this book is really good, its mostly stuff I've heard of before, but still a great reminder. They do teach a lot on how to make your time work for you. Definately a must read for those who are facing financial struggles and needing to cut down on costs, but not willing to cut down on quality. I really did enjoy this book!!! A definate addition to any library!!

Emily's chance, by Sharon Gillenwater. In this book we meet Emily, she has big plans of success in this world. She plans on going on to become a museum curator, and the work she's doing in Callahan crossing is just one way to forward her plans to make it there. She doesn't plan on meeting chance though, who's won over by Emily and finds it his mission to convince her to stay...with him.
This is a great story of love, redemption and beauty. Its fantastic to find a story that you can just get lost in and forget the world around you. This is one of those books. You know an authors written a great book when you can finish reading it and have such a feeling of peace and love after. Great job on this book Sharon Gillenwater, I very much loved it and look forward to seeking out the first book in this series!

More glimpses of Heaven, by Trudy Harris, RN. In this book we read true stories of people in the last stages of live and the peace and comfort that God gives them. Story after story we see the joy of the Lord in their lives despite the circumstances happening. One story is that of a little boy who was dying, but he had so much life and joy in him. He often told people that Jesus visted him, and on one of his visits he was going to take him back with him to Heaven.
The stories in this book are so sweet. This is a fantastic book that shares with us of those who have Jesus as their savior and the peace in which they leave this world with that knowledge. As much as I loved this book it was probably the hardest book that I've read. Every story makes you cry lol. It took me a while to get through it, because as much comfort there is in Jesus, it still very touching and hard to accept death. Is this a book I'd recommend to people? I don't know, it would be very dependant on the circumstances in their lives. I can see this book being a great comfort to those who are facing dying or facing a loved one dying.

I have been waiting really impatiently for this book in the Lancaster county series to come out! I read the first book in this series, The Choice, and fell in love with the characters and the community. This definitely did not disappoint! I loved every inch of this book! Amish fiction novels are becoming increasingly popular and Suzanne Woods Fisher is among the top writers in this area! I can not wait to get my hands on a copy of the third book in this series!! Very well done!

Unlocked, by Karen Kingsbury. Holden Harris is locked in a world of autism. His mom, Tracy, doesn't get to communicate with her son, he is non verbal. She also hasn't hugged her son in years as touch is too much for him and upsets him. She feels like her son was kidnapped at three years old and replaced with this shell that looks like him, but he's not there anymore. Ellie is looking for more from life, than the life her parents have created. Her mom tries to hard to impress her husband and the rest of the world. Her dad only seems to concentrait on baseball and training. Which leaves Ellies home a very lonely place. When Ellie see's harris at school, she's drawn to his eyes, the familiar look he gives her. Through this meeting with Ellie we see harris do more than he's ever done before and now has restored hope to his parents that their son is indeed not lost, God knows exactly where he is and what is going on in his mind.
I adored this book. It was seriously fantastic! Not at all a romance story, but a great story on the miracles of God and how He uses people to bring his miracles to others! I couldn't put this book down, it was done with in two days of starting it! I really loved this novel! A must read for Karen Kingsbury fans!

While we're far apart, by Lynn Austin. Penny is a shy, homely woman. Living in a home with her parents who are afraid of life. Who refuse to let Penny live one of her own, they fear trouble and danger around ever corner. Penny has always loved Eddie, their next door neighbor's son. After Eddie's wife passes away, he's left with two young children and trouble dealing with the grief of loosing his wife. He decides to join the military as an escape to it all. Except that he has no one to care for his children after learning that his mother will not allow them to live with her. Penny comes to the rescure (much to anger of Eddie's daughter) and offers to live with the kids in their apartment while Eddie is away at war. All a part of Penny's plan to win Eddie's heart. Penny all the sudden is faced with caring for children (something she's never done), as well as caring for Eddie's home and dealing with all the problems that young ladies and ecspecially angry young ladies face! Also facing fears installed in her from her parents about the people around her and in her building. Penny finds freedom, truth, and see's secrets exposed!
This is an excellent book. Not only do we get to see things through Penny's eyes as she's trying to raise two children who are strangers to her, but we also get to see through the eyes of their Jewish neighbor who has a son who is in the concentration camps during the holocaust. The author does a great job of giving us a sense of the time and the struggles faced by those of that time as well! A much loved novel.

Through her calling to care for the Costin family after the passing of their mother, Elizabeth finds herself falling for the children and their father! John Costin is a preacher of the gosple, which is a dangerous calling in those times. He can't deny his calling but he also needs to care for his family. We follow Elizabeth and John through this story of love and danger, to see how it all plays out.
I really enjoyed this book! It held my attention from beginning to end! A really great story line! God works in mysterious ways and this book really shows us of examples of how God can and does work in us! I highly recommend this book!!

The Grace of God, by Andy Stanley. In this book Any Stanley looks at grace through out the Bible. Grace is such a foreign thing to us. As much as we learn about it at church and on our own. It is such a hard concept to really grasp! (the idea is easy, but the realization that you can't earn grace is so foreign). Right from beginning to end in this book Mr. Stanley shows us Biblically God's grace. Right from the fall when Adam and eve were told they would die if they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Yet when they did eat from it, God extended his grace to them and spared their lives! Their lives were not the same, there were consequences for their actions, but by God's grace they did not die! Its hard some times to see grace in the Old Testament. It seems like there was always anger and vengeance and its hard to see God's love in there. But Mr. Stanley goes through most of those questions about the OT and shows us God's grace in there. If you compare what the people were told would happen vs what did happen we see that God truly is a merciful God through out the Bible! Mr. Stanley points out so much stuff that we tend to miss in the Bible, the revelation that he's been given about grace is amazing! I love the line in there about how God went looking for them, he didn't wait for Adam and eve to confess their sins and come to him for forgiveness. He sought them out, went looking for them! How abundance is the love of our God!!! I have been studying grace for the past year and longed for a book that truly captured what grace is. There is no secret formula to God. You do this and then he'll do that. All that He has done for us is out of His grace, mercy and love. I can't even begin to put into words how much I loved this book. It is so accurate on what grace is and you hear God in those pages! I love that book and will treasure it for years to come! It is a book that all Christians need to read, it should be in every single church library out there! I will be recommending this book to every one I know!

Head in the clouds, by Karen Witemeyer. In this novel we meet Adelaide Proctor. The towns school teacher. She loves her job and the kids. She's also wanting to get married and have her own family. She meets a guys she thinks she can marry, she's not sure if she loves him, but he'd be able to provide. He suddenly announces that his job has switched and he'd no longer be coming through town any longer. Adelaide follows him to where he lives in hopes of a marrage proposal and instead finds out that he's married! So now she's left with out a job, a husband or a place to live. She finds an add in the local paper for a school tutor and gets the job, thats when the adventure really begins!
This book was great, I really enjoyed it. It was suspensful, entertaining and just a great read! I highly recommend it and can't wait to read more of Karen Witemeyer's books!

Jamie again is fighting for her life a second time as he returns to her to finish off the job!!
This book is fantastic, so super suspenseful. You know that point where you're so engrossed in what you're reading that you're feeling what the characters are feeling? Where the suspense keeps you in a constant state of wanting to throw up and scream at your book? This is that kind of book lol. definately not a chick book! I really enjoy Lynette's books and can't wait for the next book in the series to come out! Very well done!!! 5 out of 5!!! The only complaint I have is that I hate the cover lol, that is the only area that I think the books can improve on!

Marguerite starts telling lie after lie to try and find a way to escape the things she doesn't want to face and soon discovers herself too caught up in lies with not apparent way out. She's left facing the choice of marry the man she doesn't love, but saving her family through it. Or marrying the man she does love, but loosing her family.
This book is awesome! I love love love it! It is very well written and so entertaining!!! Very Very well done for a first novel Ms. Seilstad!!!! I certainly hope she will continue writing more so I can continue reading them!! a definate 5 out of 5!

Now she must make the choice to follow her plans or her heart.
This is a great read! I really love Julie Lessman's writing style! It kept me glued to the book from the begining to the end! I love books where the woman isn't some dumb twit, who couldn't possibly rely on herself. This book is not that! I love it, its a must read! I can't wait to get the next book in this series!! I'm a huge fan!!!

embers of love, striking a match book 1, by Tracie Peterson. In this book we meet Deborah Vandermark. She went to school and recieved education in bookkeeping. She returns home, accompanied by her friend who she's helping run away from a wedding she doesn't want. and decides to play match-maker with her and set her up with brother. Deborah's eye is drawn to the new doctor in town Christopher Clayton. She starts learning from him and realizes that she has a passion for medicine, but she also might have a passion for him?
The book was a little predictable lol, but it was still a good read! I really enjoy Tracie Peterson's books and this one didn't disappoint! Definately a must read for the romance lovers in your life! I'm not an avid fan of Romance novels, but I thought this one was good! (good for a romance novel type of good lol). I'd say a 4 out of 5!

Adventures in Booga Booga Land - Volume 1

I recieved this DVD from Thomas Nelson for reviewing. I'd never heard of this cartoon before, but I have young children and am always looking for Chrisitan based stuff for them to watch! We just recieved it on friday and I think we've watched it about 6 times! My children are ages 4 and 6 and they love it! Its definately geared towards that age group (as far as the format of the cartoon, being able to hold attention). The characters in this movie retell 3 parables from scripture in cartoon format! The building your house on a rock parable. The parable about the workers who all got paid the same although worked different hours. The parable of the lamp under the bowl.
While we really enjoyed this movie and its a good clean show for kids (there is one insult at one point where the monkey calls his teacher a square, not a bad insult lol, but an insult none the less!), the only problem that I had is that it doesn't really mention scripture in the movie at all. You're not really going to understand that this is based on scripture unless your kids really know those stories to begin with! I would have like to have seen scripture told in the movie better! But I still liked the movie and its a great resource for your children, especially if accompanied by teaching the parables!

YHWH, The Flood The fish and the giant by G.P. Taylor. Taylor takes the stories we read in our Bibles (david and goliath, adam and eve, etc...) and retells them in a story like manor that's easily read and a more modern style of writing. He embellishes the stories we all know to present them more fresh that would appeal to a younger generation!
I did really like this book, I don't think that Taylor took anything too far that it would disagree with scripture, he seemed to follow scripture closely and was very careful not to add to or take away from the Bible. The only thing that I didn't enjoy in this book was the first chapter on Adam and Eve as I felt that he portrayed Eve as a ditz, and the significance of who she is and why she was created wasn't there. Other than that, the rest of the stories I think are fantastic! Definately something thats going to captivate younger readers who are into the twilight/harry potter style! Very well done!!

City on our Knees, by Toby Mac. In his book Toby Mac shares with us stories about people who have done the unimagineable. Regular people like us, who have changed the world. Some times motivated by disease, prejudice etc...We hear story after story of people who dispite only being one person, decided to stand up for something and in the process did more than they could ever imagine! We hear of a little girl with Cancer at 6 years old who raises more money that we could ever imagine possible to fight this disease, all because she wanted to help those who would be in the same position as her. We hear another story of people who refused to discriminated agaist any longer, but who also refused to succumb to bullying and efforts to make them start a violent march. Who ended up changing things for their people by simiply standing up and saying no we're not going to let this happen any longer.
This book reminds me a lot of the book Jesus freaks that came out years ago, this one though not only includes stories of people who are chrisitians on mission fields, but also of those who are not. This book is a great inspirational book! it really shows us what one person can do to change the world! I really enjoyed this book!
