The Voice New Testament

I just recieved this Bible and love it! I love the way they tell the stories in the Bible. It really is a great Bible! I hadn't expected too much out of this as when I looked it up I didn't see a lot of good reviews about it. So I was pretty sceptical when it arrived and didn't think it would be very good. Well I'm happy to report that I was wrong!! Its easy to understand and well written. I loved the screen-play type style! I say give this Bible a chance, I'm positive you won't be disappointed!!!

Hermie & Friends: Antonio Meets His Match DVD

I just recently recieved the dvd Antonio Meets his match, by Max Lucado. My children (ages 3 and 6) were so excited to see this arrive in the mail as they love the Hermie and Friends movies!! Just like all the other Hermie and friends movies this one is excellent! Its well done and gets a clear message across about loving your neighbor! They tell the stories in a way that kids can understand and learn while enjoying the movie! In this movie new neighbors move into the garden who annoy all the bugs. All the bugs would like for these new ants to leave, but God tells them to love them instead. So we watch as the garden bugs try and put this into effect! lol. Very cute and a great dvd for children! I highly recommend it!

The Choice, by Suzanne Woods Fisher

I started reading this book yesterday and I just couldn't put it down! It is so captivating! As I got to the middle of the book I put it down for a minute and thought that the second half would probably be really slow and not as good as the first half of the book. So much happened in the first half that I wasn't sure the author could continue the excitement on in the second half. BUT it was just as good as the first half! This book is so well written that I started and finished it all in the same day! The main character in this story is Carrie, she experiences heart ache after heart ache after the death of loved ones and finds herself needing to make a lot of choices. The choice to forgive, to love, to be loved, etc.  We see a glimps of the Amish world in this book, which while it sounds really boring, is not lol!! We hear the heart of God in this book, to love us, to show us grace and forgiveness! I found such a peace reading this book as it reminds you through out the book who God is and His love for us. This is a definate must read, I can promise that you'll love it just as much as I did!

The sweet By and By, by Sara Evans

In Sara Evans first novel we read a story about a young woman about to get married and situations that she'd rather not have come back from the past come and face her head on. It is a captivating story of facing your past and learning forgiveness!! I Did really enjoy this book once I got past the first few chapters. I found myself incredibly confused within the first few chapters about who was who and what role they played in the story and how they were related to the main character of the story. I found that very discouraging, but I encourage people to not give up there as once it gets pulled together and you figure out who's who it really is a great story! I did really enjoy this book and find it to be a great read!

An Amish Christmas

An Amish Christmas by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, and Barbara Cameron. When I initially signed up to read this book I really wasn't expecting much from it. Honestly I figured how interesting could a book about Amish people be? I'm happy to report that I was hugely wrong! I loved every inch of this book! I was captivated right from the beginning and just couldn't put it down until it was finished. The book is basically three stories following different people on the same Amish colony. It gives us a bit of a glimpse into their lives, traditions and why they do things they way they do it. The first section follows a young Amish woman who was hurt by a boy she cared for, but never let go of the hurt. When he is suddenly thrust back into her life she has to try and find a way to forgive him. The second book is about a widowed mother who's first love left with out really saying why and years after her husband passed away, he suddenly returns. She is forced to find forgiveness for him and possibly allow him back in her life. the third story is about a young Amish couple who a year previously lost their baby through a miscarriage. We follow them and their healing from that. God works in their lives to bring them to a place of comfort and peace.
The only complaint that I have about this book is that it wasn't longer! At the end of each story I was left wondering what ever happened to all of them and wanting there to be another book. It is well written and with fingers crossed I"m hoping for a sequel!

The Unfinished Gift by Dan Walsh

I absolutely loved this book! about a time when many family's were split up because of the war (story was set in 1943) and a young boy finds himself with out either of his parents. He's sent to live with a Grandpa he's never met, who's not the friendliest guy! God uses this little boy in an amazing way. This story tells of how God can use those bad situations that happen in our lives and use them for good! The story is very sad and you'll need a box of tissues beside you to read it, but well worth the read! I started this book and couldn't put it down, the story is so captivating. It is very well written especially considering that its Dan Walsh's first novel!! Its a great Christmas book and would be a wonderful gift for the book readers on your list! I have nothing bad to say about this book, I loved every bit of it! Thanks for a great read!!

The Christmas Dog, by Melody Carlson

This book was such a great Christmas book! The story is about and older lady who's pretty lonely. She also is unsure about a new neighbor, who shows up one day in the house behind her. She has a couple of surprises with some guests showing up. The christmas dog not only finds a warm home, but also helps to change hearts! This book is a good reminder on how we need to be treating our neighbors and what the Christmas season is all about. I started this book and then just couldn't put it down! I really did enjoy reading it! Its a little short, but not in a bad way. I was able to get through the book in a couple of days (which is nice when you have two busy kids running around lol), but it was still a really good read! I'd encourage everyone to pick up a copy of this book!!!
