When the Smoke Clears, Deadly Reunions Series #1

When the Smoke clears, Deadly Reunions series #1, by Lynette Eason. Alexia finds herself suspended from her career for the time being, not sure if or when she will return. It would seem that some one doesn't want her around and is tampering with her firefighter equipment. Alexia decides that its time she went home and faced her past that she ran from 10 years ago and never looked back. Only when she gets back, she finds things even less safe there than they were back in Washington! The night of their prom her good friend Jillian came in crying and scared and ran out. That was the last that anyone has seen of her. They know she saw something that scared her, but they don't know what. Well notes from Jillian to the person who had sent her into hiding years ago have started coming and he doesn't want his secrets out! Attack after attack keeps happening to Alexia and those around her! On top of all that she is finally starting to remember what happened during the fire that burned her sister so badly that her father blamed her for!
This really is an exciting novel! It'll keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time! I was intrigued from beginning to end and could not put this book down! It just keeps you guessing from beginning to end who the attacker is and what the secret is! What a fantastic book!

Words spoken true

Words spoken True, by Ann H. Gabhart. Adriane grew up in her fathers newspaper shop! She has a passion for the news and writing and no desire to give that up! Not that the town isn't giving plenty of stories for them to write, between the murders of the Irish immigrants and the politics there's plenty of stories to go around! But Adriane soon finds a nemesis in a competing paper! their numbers are going down and his are going up! On top of that it would appear that she is being forced to marry some one she does not love! But soon Adriane finds herself falling for Blake, who is the editor of their competing paper! Who seems to come to her rescue just when she needs it every time!
I'm not sure what to say about this book? While I think it was fantastically done and so well written, it really holds your attention right to the end. It did have some draw backs. One thing I would have liked to have seen less of is the issue of sex and passion between Adriane and Blake. While it only talked about them having sex after they were married, it seemed like there was just a bit too much focus on that subject! I usually donate my books after I read them to my church library, but just because of that issue I am uncomfortable doing so with this book! If that had been taken out than it would definitely be a book that I would recommend, but that just kind of ruined it for me.

Sixty Acres and a bride

Sixty Acres and a Bride, by Regina Jennings. In this novel we meet Rosa Garner, originally from Mexico, but married into the Garner family. Although it would seem as though her former husband did not have the same feelings about her. When her husband and father in law both pass away in an mining accident Rosa and her mother in law return to the town that the Garner's grew up in. When they arrive they discover that the people they had left "renting" their land had failed to pay the taxes on the land, so they only have 3 months to come up with a large sum of money! Which is a pretty difficult task for two widowed woman at that time! Weeks of trying to save money have not seemed to help too much, but Rosa finds herself face to face with Weston, Who, while facing his own battles, may be able to fall in love again!
This book was really great! I loved it from beginning to end! I loved Rosa's character! You get so sick and tired of reading novels that have the female lead character as a ditzy woman who couldn't possibly stand on her own two feet, but here we find a determined, strong, independent woman! This novel had my attention through the entire thing! In fact it only took about 3 days to read this book, it was that good! Definitely one to include in your personal library!!
