The Ice Cutter's daughter, by Traci Patterson. Merrill made a pack with her dying mother that she would care for her siblings and father. So needless to say she didn't grow up with the most lady like skills. Knowing more than what the other young ladies in the area would know how to do, because it wasn't considered lady like to work like Merrill did. She had given up hope on ever finding love and having a man interested in her, because lets face it, the men wanted some one more lady like. Merrill was intimidating to the men. But then walks Rurik into her life, he falls for merrill and wants to be able to call her his wife. Her personality and her skills don't bother him at all. Yet former relationships seem to fall in the way of him winning merrill over, he makes for great gossip among the people, who appreciate a good scandal!
I really liked this book! I'm a major fan of books that portray woman as strong characters to encourage and inspire others! This is different than what we find in a lot of traditional Christian romance novels and a breath of fresh air!!
